Profile | Kenneth Barlis at Toronto Men's Fashion Week | FW17

This seasons Toronto Men's Fashion Week welcomed the California Coast designer Kenneth Barlis. On March 10th Barlis introduced his Fall/Winter 2017 collection with a vibrant opening for the final night. This season, he incorporated splashes of desert-rose floral, elegant velvets, bold bubble-gum, grass-greens and neon cobalt colours featured on elegant suiting pieces. The elegant details were phenomenal with all the intricate designs on each garment. The Fall/Winter 2017 trends have an ornate influence that showcases Barlis's detailed triangles, floral brocade and shoulder details (very chic). Some designs also featured wide velvet lapels that have a "smoking jacket" inspiration making this a unique trend for the Fall season.

Designer Profile

Born and raised in Pagadian City, Philippines, Kenneth has always had a passion for the creation, elegance and luxury of couture design. His designs showcase a story and passion that has made him grow further in his fashion career. In 2010, Barlis launched his first bridal and evening gown collection, and his eponymous line called KENNETH BARLIS.

He focuses on the fit, quality and overall clientele satisfaction. Personality is key for his clients, and “I consider myself a storyteller and each of my creations are characters in the story. I believe that when you share your vulnerable side with your audience, a deeper connection is established, and the story becomes more real", says Barlis.

His designs have been featured in multiple fashion and luxury lifestyle publications: Vogue, Fiori, Icon, Stylo Esmas, and White Wedding Magazine to name a few. Many of his featured collections have been on the runways of Toronto, New York, Los Angeles, and Paris. This talented designer has plans of expanding and his opportunities have taken off with Hollywood celebrities Kendra Wilkinson, Crystal Reed and Matt Lanter. In 2012, he created the evening gown for Miss Universe Janine Tugon from the Philippines.

I want to congratulate Kenneth Barlis on his design aesthetics and talent as he continues to move forward in the fashion industry with his incredible works in the making.
